Pallet exchange

In the following you will find out which possibilities are available to you to carry out a transport which includes a pallet exchange.

What are the options for exchanging pallets?

  1. Exchange with own pallets 1:1
  2. PAKi
    a. Direct PAKi-exchange
    b. Pooling after transport (indirect PAKi-exchange)
    c. Rebooking via PAKi (indirect PAKi-exchange)
  3. Pallet exchange via DPL
  4. Company related pallet exchange

1. Own pallets

The easiest and fastest way to exchange pallets is a direct 1:1 exchange at the loading and unloading point. This is possible if your driver carries the type, number and quality of empty pallets specified in the transport order.

2.a How does a direct exchange via PAKi work?

Instructions:

Please note that for each exchange with PAKi a separate PAKi order must be requested from service@cargonexx.de. You can find out how to apply for a PAKi order here.

    1. If your driver does not carry his own pallets on the vehicle for the necessary exchange, there is the possibility of taking the type, number and quality of empty pallets specified in the transport order at a PAKi spot before loading. Together with our service team, you can easily determine the most favourable PAKi spot for you.
    2. Your driver will be issued with a pallet note at the PAKi-Spot confirming that the pallets have been collected.
    3. The pallets provided by the PAKi - Station are then exchanged with the pallets to be transported at the loading point.
    4. At the loading point, your driver will receive a pallet note confirming that the loading point has received the pallets he has taken with him.
    5. Your driver carries out the transport order as agreed and hands over the goods at the unloading point.
    6. At the unloading point, your driver receives as return the exact type and number of empty pallets that he has transported. When handing over the pallets, you should make sure that they are of the same quality class. In case of any irregularities concerning the number and quality of the pallets, please contact our service team immediately.
    7. In the last step the empty pallets are delivered to a nearby PAKi station.
    8. Finally, your driver will also be issued with a pallet note confirming that the collected pallets have been returned in an orderly manner.
    9. Please send this pallet note as a scan or image (PDF, JPG, PNG) to freight-docs@cargonexx.de, so that your pallet debt can be settled.

You can find out how to send us the shipping documents here.

A member of our service team will gladly advise you on the exact procedure for returning the pallets.

2.b Pooling after transport (indirect PAKi-exchange)

Instructions:

Please note that for each exchange with PAKi a separate PAKi order must be requested from service@cargonexx.de. You can find out how to apply for a PAKi order here.

  1. Your driver takes the palletised goods at the loading point as usual and unloads them at the unloading point
  2. At the unloading point your driver gets back the exact type and number of empty pallets he has transported. When handing over the pallets, you should make sure that they are of the same quality class. In case of any irregularities concerning the number and quality of the pallets, please contact our service department immediately.
  3. The empty pallets received must be taken to the nearest PAKi station.
  4. Your driver will be issued a pallet note at the PAKi station confirming that the received pallets have been returned.
  5. Please send this pallet note as a scan or image (PDF, JPG, PNG) to freight-docs@cargonexx.de, so that your pallet debt can be settled.

You can find out how to send us the shipping documents here.

2.c Rebooking via PAKi (indirect exchange PAKi)

Please note that only PAKi partners can carry out such a rebooking.

  1. Your driver picks up the palletised goods at the loading point as usual and unloads them at the unloading point.
  2. At the unloading point your driver receives back the exact type, number and quality of empty pallets and can continue to carry them with him. When handing over the pallets, you should make sure that they are of the same quality class. In case of any irregularities regarding the number and quality of the pallets, please contact our service department immediately.
  3. The pallet debt is discharged by an electronic transfer of the debt from the transport company to Cargonexx.
  4. As soon as the rebooking has been carried out, Cargonexx will receive a rebooking confirmation from PAKi.
  5. After Cargonexx has received the rebooking confirmation, the pallet debt is settled.

3. DPL note

  1. Your driver takes the goods at the loading point as usual on pallets and unloads them at the unloading point
  2. Your driver will then be issued with a valid DPL note at the unloading point.

Instructions:

In order to settle your pallet debt, please send the DPL note by post and in the original to Cargonexx. Otherwise there is no possibility to discharge your pallet debt. You can easily find our address on your transport order or here, i.e: Cargonexx GmbH, Herrengraben 30, 20459 Hamburg, Germany

4. Company related pallet notes

With some transports it can happen that the pallet return must be carried out by you independently, i.e:

  1. Your driver takes the goods on pallets at the loading point as usual and unloads them at the unloading point
  2. At the unloading point your driver receives a company-related pallet note, which is independently issued by the recipient of the transported goods.

What do I have to pay attention to?

Please check the condition and number of pallets carefully each time you or your driver pick them up. DPL and PAKi write off defective pallets and invoice them. If you are offered damaged pallets, please contact our service team immediately, i.e. before the pallets are actually picked up and a related written pallets note is issued. Our service team will immediately contact the affected loading or unloading point and try to solve the problem.

The costs for damaged pallets may have to be borne by the transport company.

Please note that we cannot accept any liability for damage to the pallets (which are no longer usable) caused by your actions or those of your authorised representatives.
